NAFCS Students Named National Merit Semi-Finalists

Last week, officials for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 63rd annual national merit Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 national Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of competition. About 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a national Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.

This year Floyd Central High School has three National Merit Semifinalists for 2019. They are Peter Didelot, Jeret McCoy and Mason Stocke. Floyd Central now has 86 Semi-Finalists in the 51-year history of the school!

New Albany High School is also proud of their four National Merit Semi-Finalists. Congratulations to Marley Wells, Ian Kimbell, Madison Bierly, and Vijay Chirumamilla!
