New Albany NJROTC Cadets Receive Scholarships

April 29th, 2019

New Albany NJROTC senior cadets Kyla Weber and Ben Lewis recently received some outstanding scholarship news!  Kyla has received a direct appointment to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Ben has received a 4 year Navy ROTC scholarship to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.  Both the Air Force Academy and Navy ROTC scholarships were extremely competitive with thousands of applicants for each.  Kyla will be reporting to the Air Force Academy in June to begin summer training and Ben will be reporting to Naval Training Center Great Lakes in July for NROTC Midshipmen Indoctrination.

Kyla and Ben are continuing the strong tradition of New Albany NJROTC cadets receiving scholarships. In just the last four years, New Albany cadets have received 3 direct appointments to Military Service Academies (2 Air Force Academy and 1 Naval Academy plus 1 Naval Academy Prep School). Additionally during the same time frame, New Albany cadets have received 4 Navy ROTC scholarships, 3 Army ROTC scholarships and 1 Air Force ROTC scholarship.

Recently, Kyla Weber visited the Air Force Academy and was met by former NAHS NJROTC Cadet Caleigh McLean who gave her a personal tour of the campus. New Albany High School is extremely well represented at the United States Air Force Academy and the NJROTC connection is very strong!
