Last week, the Horseshoe Foundation of Floyd County awarded grants to 33 organizations. Between the New Albany-Floyd County Education Foundation, Green Valley Elementary School, and Scribner, we were awarded almost $68,000 to be used towards NA-FC Schools! WHAS 11 News stopped by Highland Hills to present NAFCS teacher of the year, Kristen Boehnlein, with the Excel Award. In 2008, Indiana passed a law that requires public schools to go to the ballot box if they want to improve their local schools. Our corporation is proposing several projects to be voted on in the November election. CLICK HERE to watch a video summarizing each of these exciting projects.

A huge thanks to each and every one of the Floyd Central Dance Marathon supporters. Students, teachers, family, friends, and local businesses helped this year’s committee achieve their goal of six figures for their sixth year, raising a total of $111,258.19 for the kids at Riley Hospital.

New Albany High School NJROTC has been selected to represent the state of Indiana in the 2016 Memorial Day Parade in Honolulu, Hawaii. This parade will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. History will come alive for the cadets as they visit Pearl Harbor, the USS Arizona Memorial and other historic sites. Last week, Prosser’s health career students volunteered alongside Red Cross at a blood drive held at Prosser. Students and staff donated a total of 108 pints of blood. Thank you to all of the Red Cross workers, and student volunteers.
