Update on A/B Schedule

NAFCS Update: March 5, 2021

Dear Parent(s),

Collectively, we have made much progress with our efforts to limit the societal impact of Covid. We appreciate everything everyone has done to help our students make it through this year. It has been quite a journey for all of us.

At this time, we are announcing two changes to our 7-12 education program in response to changing conditions.

First, on Monday, March 15, we will eliminate the use of the A/B schedule for all 7th and 8th-grade students. Beginning on this day, students who have previously chosen in-person learning will physically attend school 5 days a week. Students who have chosen the virtual option may continue with that pathway 5 days per week as well (no change for virtual students).

Second, on Monday, March 22, we will eliminate the use of the A/B schedule for all 9-12 high school students. Beginning on this day, students who have previously chosen in-person learning will physically attend school 5 days a week. Students who have chosen the virtual option may continue with that pathway 5 days per week as well (no change for virtual students).

If any grade 7-12 students wish to change their learning path from virtual to in-person, please contact your building administration. Finally, we need to remind everyone of two important points:

1. The suspension of the A/B schedule for our secondary students requires rigorous adherence to all mitigation measures. Specifically, social distancing and face masking will remain. With more people in the schools, it becomes even more necessary to faithfully practice fidelity to these generally recognized good health principals.

2. Everyone needs to be reminded, the School Administration will continue to monitor the overall community impact of Covid. While we hope these schedule changes remain intact for the remainder of the school year, there is the possibility that positivity rates could increase. If they do, we will reinstate any and all needed mitigation actions (i.e. schedule changes, etc.) for our faculty, staff, and students.

I’m looking forward to the first day of spring.

Sincerely,

Brad Snyder
Superintendent
