2020 Graduation Plan

FLOYD COUNTY – The New Albany Floyd County Consolidated School Corp. will host two graduation ceremonies on July 18.

Floyd Central High School will have graduation at 10 a.m. with New Albany High School’s ceremony starting at 1 p.m.

“At this time, no one know for sure what rules or guidance will be in place come July,” said Superintendent Dr. Brad Snyder. “We intend to offer some form of celebration on July 18, with the preference being as close to the traditional graduation ceremony as possible. However, we will make various public health adjustments and decisions as that date gets closer.”

All rules and guidance from the health department and state officials in place at the time of the July 18 event will be followed.

“The main thing for us is that we wanted our students to get an opportunity to hear their name called, something they have been looking forward to for many years now, ” said Dr. Michelle Ginkins, principal of NAHS.

“Both Dr. Ginkins and I felt a virtual-type of ceremony was possible, but we wanted to provide something closer to a traditional experience for our schools, who have worked so hard to get to this point in their educational careers,” said FCHS Principal Dr. Rob Willman.

Final details about the ceremonies will be released as the date gets closer.

“We are so proud of our 2020 graduates,” Snyder added. “These graduates will forever remember the events surrounding their senior year. We are working hard to provide a graduation ceremony that celebrates everything they have accomplished that can also be a great memory, on which they can look back upon.”
