NAHS Spotlight

There’s a lot happening lately at New Albany High School. Here’s what you might have missed:

NJROTC: New Albany High School NJROTC Cadets won First Place Overall in the Harvest Homecoming Parade! Out of 110 entries in the entire parade, NAHS NJROTC received the top trophy! The cadets also won first place in their respective category “Marching Unit (Non-Band).”

HARVEST HOMECOMING 2015 AWARDS

Art:
Abigail Sheets won 2 St. James Art Show Student Scholarships. She won in the Sculpture category, and also won the Best of Show for the Best overall piece submitted to the competition. She won $5,100 in scholarships, and her work was exhibited during the St. James Art Fair weekend.

Junior, Emily Yellina, won at the Art Education Association of Indiana State Conference when her Youth Art Month Flag design was selected to represent the State of Indiana in March of 2016 at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. This iArt Shapes the World 2015 Flag Emily YellinaEmily Yellina High School Winner 2015s the third year that a student from New Albany High School had their artwork selected for this honor. Emily also had her drawing selected as the Best of Show in the High School category in the Conference Student Art Exhibition. Educators attending the conference from across the State voted on the best design and best art works in each grade level category.

Alumni: Before he was a famous astronomer, Edwin Hubble was a beloved teacher and coach at New Albany High School. The high school will soon debut a bronze art piece to commemorate Hubble’s contributions to the school. For the full story, click HERE.
