Fred McWhorter II, Chief Business Officer

Fred McWhorter II serves as the Chief Business Officer / Treasurer for the New Albany - Floyd County Consolidated School Corporation.  Mr. McWhorter has over 18 years of applied experience related to the fiscally sound operation of a School Corporation and has been with NA-FC Schools for the past 11 years.  He resides Floyd County, Indiana with his wife and 3 children who attend NA-FC Schools.

As the Chief Business Officer / Treasurer, Mr. McWhorter provides leadership to the Accounting, Payroll, HR, Transportation, and Food Services departments.  His responsibilities also include the preparation of the school corporation budget as well as many State and Federal grants.  This equates to managing in excess of $150 million and the direction of over 250 employees.

Mr. McWhorter has a degree in Accounting, is a former State Board of Accounts auditor and is certified as a “Chief Business Officer” and a “Registered School Business Official” by the Indiana Association of School Business Officials.
During Mr. McWhorter’s career, he has been active in State and National school business management organizations.  Mr. McWhorter has served 10 years on the Board of Directors for the Indiana Association of School Business Officials (IASBO) and is past President of the organization.  In addition, he is also a member of the Association of School Business Officials International.  Mr. McWhorter has also been recognized for his contribution to the Indiana School Business Profession.  In 2004 he was recognized as the Indiana Region 10 Treasurer of the Year, in 2007 the Indiana Region 10 School Business Official of the Year and was the recipient of the 2010 School Business Official of the Year award for the State of Indiana.

The Business Office is charged with safekeeping the School Corporation's financial resources. The Business Office manages the various aspects of accounts receivable, accounts payable, insurance and investments. In addition, the office coordinates the procurement and distribution of information, contracted services, equipment, materials and supplies. The Business Office also facilitates the community as well as the school buildings and departments throughout the School Corporation by serving as a source of data, information, and support.  Mr. Fred McWhorter serves as the Chief Business Officer.
